I’m Laetitia Nemery, a contemporary artist based in Brussels. My world is built around paradox, contrast and deep emotional exploration. My main medium is abstract painting, but I’m also developing sculptural work influenced by the organic, portraiture and surrealism.
Although I was born into a family of artists (draughtsman, engraver, painter), I denied my creative potential for a long time. It was at the age of 28 that art imposed itself on me, first through painting, then through other forms of expression. My atypical career path, which includes artistic make-up and the world of cosmetics, has enabled me to develop an eye for the harmony of shapes and colors.
Working in abstract painting gives me total freedom: I paint with knives, I play with the material, I let my emotions take over. Each canvas is a fragment of me – between tension and gentleness, chaos and balance. My works are nourished by my paradoxes, my overflowing imagination and my need to give form to the unspeakable.
For some time now, sculpture has been an obvious choice for me. It’s a return to the raw gesture, to volume, to a form of slowness that I didn’t find on canvas.
I mix realistic portraiture withabstraction, exploring organic forms that sometimes evoke the body, sometimes the unconscious. My world flirts with surrealism, without trying to claim it: it’s more a plunge into my feelings, my inner silences.
I work around the “me”, psychological disorders such as anxiety, and the fine line between the visible and the invisible. Each piece is an attempt to embody what I feel without always being able to name it. It’s more intimate, more instinctive work, which doesn’t seek to please but to tell.

For the moment, my sculptures can only be seen at exhibitions. They are not available for sale online because of their fragility. This is more intimate work, which I reserve for real encounters.
I work mainly in contemporary abstract painting, with textures, contrasts and raw emotions. In sculpture, I mix realistic and abstract portraiture, exploring organic forms that tend towards the surreal. I draw much of my inspiration from my feelings, daydreams and psychological disorders such as anxiety.
I’d love to. I’m always open to proposals for collaborations, group exhibitions or curatorial projects. Just send me a message via the contact form . contact or on Instagram.
